Our cats were born April 28, 1998.  They are identical twin sisters.  My friend owns their mother, and their father was a stranger in the night.  Their mother is small and gray, so they clearly take after their father.  Because he was a feral cat, they are still very skittish, despite having been handled since the day they were born.  Their favorite place is under the bed, as far as they can go!

They weigh about 13 - 15 pounds each.  Their hair is very soft, and nothing we own is free of cat hair.  We've adjusted!

They prefer to rise about 5:00 a.m., and naturally they want to be fed immediately upon rising.  If one of us doesn't get up right away to meet their needs, they pace back and forth across the bed until we do get up.

Topaz loves to have her ears scratched and purrs loudly.  Amber can't stand to have her head touched, but likes her rump scratched.  She purrs, but not as loudly.  Topaz likes to sit on my pillow in the wee hours of the morning.  Neither of them are lap cats, but Amber will sometimes come and sit in my lap some evenings when I'm in my recliner reading.  She adores playing with my bookmarks, especially when she can completely remove them from the books in my reading stack.

On September 19, 2001, we adopted a little dog from the pound.  She'd been found running on the streets and no one claimed her.  She was tiny, weighing about 4 pounds, full of fleas, and pretty scruffy looking.  The vet estimated her age at about one year, so we've made her adoption date her birthday.

We named her Marie Antoinette, but have always called her Toni.

We soon discovered that she wasn't housebroken, didn't know any commands, and hadn't been spayed.  She had apparently just been allowed to run wild.  She's an "alpha" dog from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail, and she's been a real challenge to us, but she's been worth it.

She has lots of endearing mannerisms, and everyone (except the cats) love her, because she is so cute and funny.   She's a Maltese mix, with a lot of guesses as to what all is mixed in.  She's definitely a "Daddy's Girl."
